The Future of Video Collaboration

Where is video collaboration and conferencing going?In recent years, video conferencing has become an essential tool for companies throughout the globe. It is a must-have feature for any business Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) suite, and is one that continues to grow and evolve rapidly.

More businesses are relying on video conferencing technology thanks to the collaboration and mobility advantages it offers. The ability to connect with fellow team members, share data, and collaborate on critical projects from virtually any location makes this technology valuable in the corporate realm.

Evolving Voice and Sound

Conference call voice quality hasn’t seen much improvement over the years. Echoes, glitches, and other sound quality issues are still prevalent in most video conferencing software, resulting in decreased usability and increased dissatisfaction. As VoIP resellers improve their offerings, it’s likely that voice quality improvements will become a priority.

VoIP providers will focus on improving sound and voice quality, and it is likely that surround sound will become a key component in video conferencing. By moving to the surround sound model, businesses will be able to experience theater-quality sound and benefit from a significant reduction in the sound problems currently present in video conferencing technologies.

Improved sound will also play a role in providing a more interactive video conferencing experience through the use of augmented reality, especially as businesses embrace the three-dimensional experience in their apps.

Customer Service and Feature Enhancements

In addition to facilitating connection among internal team members, video conferencing can be incorporated into the customer service experience. Many businesses are now exploring options to utilize interactive customer service through live video chat. Interacting with customers via video can help customer service representatives avoid verbal miscommunications that are common with phone calls.

Future improvements in VoIP technology will also impact mobility. While resellers are already accommodating the need for mobility through easily accessible telecom products, integrated Internet of Things (IoT) apps will add greater versatility for business users.

Globalization and Innovation

Businesses are relying more on VoIP technology to stay in contact with employees in all corners of the globe. As globalization trends continue, so will the technological innovations needed to keep businesses ahead of the curve. Advanced video conferencing and other collaborative tools are among the many ways that telecom providers will address workplace globalization challenges.

The integration of augmented reality, IoT, and other emerging technologies will help VoIP resellers stay ahead as video conferencing technology evolves. These new developments should increase functionality and reliability for business users and provide added value to customers.
